Following his first sighting of Kentucky in 1767, and a two year
hunting expedition there in 1767, American frontiersman Daniel
Boone (1734 - 1820) began an attempt to colonise Kentucky in
September 1773. It ended in disaster with the death of Boone's son,
and it wasn't until 1775 that he established the village of
Boonesborough, Kentucky.
