The Pilgrim Fathers reach Cape Cod, and sign the 'Mayflower Compact' to establish a government in their proposed settlement. The document was signed by 41 of the male passengers on the Mayflower in Provincetown Harbor, Mass.. It represents the first agreement on self-government in English North America.
