The Governor of the Netherlands, Don Louis Requesens, meets with
William the Silent, Prince of Orange, in a series of conferences at
Breda. They attempt to find a means of reconciliation, but since
Philip Il refuses to grant any concessions to the rebels, these
negotiations fail.
