Charles V leads an expedition to conquer Tunis from Barbarossa, with a fleet commanded by Andrea Doria (-Aug.). Charles restores the Bey, Mulai Hassan (deposed by the Turks in 1534) and completes the Spanish conquest of the North African coast (begun in 1494).
