David Bradley was born in 1950 in Bedford, Pennsylvania, USA, a location that provided both the base and inspiration for much of his work. Bradley received his BA in Creative Writing from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972, and in 1974 while on a Thouron Scholarship from the University of Pennsylvania he received his MA in United States Studies from the University of London, England. Following a short period of employment in editing and teaching, Bradley became a Professor of Creative Writing at Temple University in Philadelphia, where he taught from 1976-96.
