Omar Shahid Hamid is an award-winning Pakistani novelist whose work draws heavily on his experiences as a police officer and counter-terrorism specialist. Three of his novels, The Prisoner (2013), The Spinner’s Tale (2015), and The Party Worker (2017), are quintessential crime thrillers. Hamid has also written The Fix (2019), a cricket thriller, and Betrayal (2021), an espionage novel.

Born on 23 October 1977, Hamid attended the prestigious Karachi Grammar School and went on to read law at the University of Kent in Canterbury between 1995 and 1998. Tragedy struck in the summer before Hamid began his final year at university. On 5 July 1997, his father Shahid Hamid was murdered …
