Ester Lombardo was a reporter and writer active mostly during the Fascist period. She supported the Party’s views and collaborated in publicizing them. However, she was also aware of the discrimination and ambiguities in the party’s politics with regard to the role of women in society. After World War II she continued her activity as a writer, while her political commitment gradually ceased.

Lombardo’s biographical data are conflicting: according to her registraton paper to the Order of Journalists, she was born in Trapani on June 5, 1901, while the Yearbook of the Italian Press reports the year of 1895. Born as Giovanna Mogavero, she studied first in Palermo and then in Rome, but soon decided to devote herself …
