Julia Franck is one of the best-known authors of post-unification German literature. Author of six novels and a collection of short stories, of essays on art and society, editor of a collection of essays, and translator of essays from English, Franck has established herself as one of the prominent German-language authors of her generation. Inspired by the German literary tradition and firmly rooted in the context of German history, Franck’s texts investigate the very personal effects that political history has on individuals and families.
