Gail Anderson-Dargatz is an award-winning Canadian writer, author of four novels and a collection of short stories. Her texts are typically set in small Canadian towns or in the countryside, with which her characters feel a deep bond, and written in a realistic style. Some, like The Cure for Death by Lightning (1996), incorporate elements of literary Gothic as well as magic interludes, and can be classified as gothic and/or magic realist texts.
