Aviva Ravel is an English-speaking Canadian playwright and writer from Montreal whose works focus predominantly on the Jewish community. She is best known for her theatrical work, and her plays have been produced throughout Canada, the United States, and Israel and often illustrate the challenges that attend the Jewish immigrant experience of displacement and cultural trauma. Ravel has also paid special attention to the concerns and experiences of women, whether single, married, or negotiating the aging process. She has taught Canadian Drama and Canadian Literature at the Université de Montréal, Collège Militaire Royal, and McGill University.
