Marina Warner is one of the foremost contemporary English intellectuals, writers and essayists, author of, among others, the novels The Lost Father (1982), Indigo, or Mapping the Waters and The Leto Bundle (2001), and the collection of short stories The Mermaids in the Basement (1993). Her essayistic and critical work has appeared in The London Review of Books, The Times Literary Supplement, The New York Times Books Review and Lettre Internationale, to name but a few.
