Colm Tóibín is one of Ireland’s most popular and prolific contemporary prose writers. He is the author of five novels, a collection of short stories, a play, three travel books, a brace of historical studies and a couple of volumes of essays. He has also edited several books of criticism, a lengthy anthology of Irish fiction, collections of essays and two books of creative writing. In addition, he has written scores of uncollected articles and reviews, and over the years he has been a prominent columnist, features writer and cultural commentator.
