The prolific author Mudrooroo is one of Australia's most provocative and enigmatic literary craftsmen. For over thirty years he has been highly influential in the development of a politics of indigenous literature. A gifted writer, Mudrooroo's fiction, poetry and theories of Aboriginal writing are taught in schools and universities in a number of Australian states. The author's extensive range of work is also known beyond the predominantly English-speaking borders of his country of birth, and has been translated into a number of different languages including Italian, German, Russian, and French.
