Neelima Ibrahim (1921-2002) was an eminent scholar, litterateur, and a social activist. A prolific writer, Ibrahim published fiction, plays, travelogues, autobiography, and academic articles, among others. However, Ibrahim is most renowned for her involvement with the women’s organizations that helped rehabilitate the rape survivors of the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. Her most important contribution to the history of Bangladesh is her reportage on the rape survivors of the war, part of which she published as a book in 1997, titled Ami Birangona Bolchhi [A War Heroine, I Speak].
