Husain M. Naqvi was born in London in 1974 into a diplomatic family, and grew up in many different countries, including Pakistan, Algeria, and the United States. He graduated from Georgetown University in 1996 with a degree in economics and English literature and for many years followed a dual career, working in finance at the World Bank in the USA and Pakistan from 1997 to 2003, and as a writer. In 2003 Naqvi moved to Cambridge, MA, to study English literature, first at Harvard then at Boston University.
