The artist, writer, and journalist Gabriella Kuruvilla was born in Milan in 1969 to an Indian father and Italian mother. In 1996 she obtained a degree in Industrial Design from the Polytechnic University of Milan with a thesis on children and their relationship to space. She has a son and lives in Milan, where she divides her time between painting and writing.
In her short stories and novels Kuruvilla delves into issues of identity and otherness, drawing on her own experience of living in two cultures, which she dissects and problematizes.
