András Sütő (1927-2006), a Transylvanian Hungarian writer, whose name became associated with the fight for individual and collective rights of national minorities in communist Romania, was born into a peasant family in the small Transylvanian village of Pusztakamarás/ Cămăraşu, Cluj County, Romania. He studied at the renowned Gábor Bethlen College in Aiud and then at the Reformate Highschool in Cluj-Napoca, where he began writing before he started his studies in directing at Szentgyörgyi István Theater Academy in the same town.
