Despite an abundant literary production of over a dozen novels, two dozen plays, numerous essays, as well as several collaborations with fellow playwrights, very little has been written about the life and career of nineteenth-century romantic French writer Alexandre Dumas fils. Although much of his work is largely overshadowed by that of his father, Alexandre Dumas père, the renowned author of The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musqueteers, among others, Alexandre Dumas fils’s novel La Dame aux camélias encountered great success and is still very much appreciated today.
