Rusticien de Pise (Old French: Rusticiaus de Pise, Italian: Rustichello da Pisa) was an Italian writer active in the French vernacular in the second half of the thirteenth or at the beginning of the fourteenth century. The extant manuscripts ascribe to Rusticien the composition of an Arthurian Compilation in French prose, sometimes titled Livre de Meliadus (Book of Meliadus) by the late scribes who assembled this work with the Romance of Meliadus, the first part of the Guiron le Courtois cycle. Rusticien also played an important part in the outline of the Devisement dou monde (Description of the World), the report of Marco Polo’s travels in the Far East.
