Since the publication of her first novel La mémoire de l’eau (1992) in Montreal, Ying Chen’s readership and reputation have expanded to reach Universities and the francophone world in Europe and North America. Published in both Canada and France and known principally for her fiction (she has published ten novels to date), she is first and foremost a writer who reflects on her project and experiments with other literary genres, contesting the limitations imposed by the very concept of genre.
