Since her 1985 debut on the literary scene, Sylvie Germain has become an important and unique voice in contemporary French literature. A prolific writer, she has authored novels, prose narratives, short stories, prefaces and postfaces, and even some poetry and a children’s story. In addition, she has collaborated with contemporary artists and photographers and penned essays on topics ranging from visual arts and literary aesthetics to faith and religion (in particular the untranslated 2004 Les Personnages [The Characters] and 1996 Les Echos du silence [The Echoes of Silence]).
