Life and Works
Philippa Gregory is a significant figure in the world of historical fiction, having authored almost forty books. Many of these works have featured in bestseller lists, and several have been adapted for film and television. She was born in Kenya in 1954 and grew up in Bristol. Describing herself as “a bit of a rebel” at school who “founded the sixth-form union, organised uniform strikes and insisted the library order Mao’s Little Red Book and things like that”, she left with disappointing A level grades, having found academic study uninspiring.
