Pier Vittorio Tondelli is a towering figure in contemporary Italian literature. Although his narrative production was cut short by his premature death, he played a key role both as an author and as a promoter of literature. As a result of his various editorial activities a new generation of very young writers (including often neglected female authors) began to be noticed by critics and readers alike. Tondelli was born in Correggio, a small town not far from Bologna, in 1955. He attended the DAMS, a very prestigious branch of the University of Bologna focusing primarily on performing arts.
