Juliusz Słowacki, poet, playwright, religious thinker, mystic, was the greatest Polish romantic poet alongside Adam Mickiewicz. The impact he had on the evolution of Polish national consciousness and culture was profound, as was his influence on articulating some of the weightiest questions of modern Polish history.
