Hisham Matar’s personal and professional biography criss-crosses the trajectories of literature, art and politics, as well as the landscapes of Libya, the homeland of which he writes, England that became his second home in 1986, and New York where he was born and where he now teaches. In London, he studied architecture and design and marked his creative space as a migrant/exilic writer, thus joining the ranks of other diasporic Libyan writers such as Ibrahim al-Koni, Khaled Mattawa, Ghazi Gheblawi, and others. To date, author of two novels, a memoir, a children’s book, and a non-fiction hybrid work, he has also contributed essays to AlSharq al-Awsat, The Guardian, The Independent, The Times …
