Monique Mojica is an actor and playwright whose life and work reflect a commitment to strengthening the continental links among the Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Her mother, Gloria Ida Miguel, an Indigenous woman of the Kuna and Rappahannock nations born in Brooklyn, is an early childhood educator, singer, actor, and co-founder in 1975 (with her sisters Muriel Miguel and Lisa Mayo) of Spiderwoman Theatre. Her father, Mathis Szykowski, born in Paris, France, is a Holocaust survivor and Professor Emeritus of French Literature at Oberlin College. Mojica has a younger brother, Raphael, who works as a social worker, therapist, and substance abuse counsellor in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
