Sandra Nwokocha
Dr Sandra Nwokocha: MA English (2010), University of Ibadan; MA Gender Studies (2012) University of Leeds; PhD English Literature (2017) University of Birmingham. She is a literary and feminist critic with expertise on analysing identity politics, particularly on issues concerning the applicability of feminism to cultures other than the West. Publications include: “Subversive responses to oppression in Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Purple Hibiscus (2017), “Theorising feminisms: a reflection on the controversies surrounding the (ir)relevance of mainstream feminism to cultures other than the West” (2018), and “Rethinking female sexuality in Adichie’s Half of a Yellow Sun” (2019).
