Richard Andrews

Richard Andrews is Emeritus Professor of Italian at Leeds University, UK, having retired from teaching and administration in 2001. His major research field has been Italian stage comedy of the 16th and 17th centuries, including Italian influences on French and English drama. He is the author of "Scripts and Scenarios: the performance of comedy in Renaissance Italy" (Cambridge University Press, 1993), and "The Commedia dell'Arte of Flaminio Scala: a translation and analysis of 30 scenarios" (Scarecrow Press, 2008). He is currently working on a book with the provisional title "Classical European Comedy, a Legacy from Italy and France".
