Stanka Radovic
Stanka Radović is Associate Professor of English at the University of Toronto. Her research and teaching engage questions of space and urban environments in contemporary dystopian fiction, postcolonial literatures and diasporic/migrant literatures. Stanka was born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, received her BA in English at Université de Genève, Switzerland and her PhD in Comparative Literature from Cornell University. Her first monograph titled Locating the Destitute: Space and Identity in Caribbean Fiction (University of Virginia Press, 2014) examined the impact of colonial spatial hierarchy on postcolonial self-understanding in the select writings of V.S. Naipaul, Patrick Chamoiseau, Beryl Gilroy and Raphaël Confiant. Stanka's current book project, Hostile Houses, investigates 20th century Gothic narratives and the problematic of (dis)possession.
