Marianne Bessy

Marianne Bessy, a native of France educated in Brittany, Ireland, and Louisiana, is associate professor of French in the department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Furman University (South Carolina). Her research interests include contemporary literatures in French, selftranslation, literary bilingualism, exile narratives, and the literary productions of the Haitian diaspora. Her book, a critical study of Francophone author Vassilis Alexakis entitled Vassilis Alexakis: Exorciser l’exil was published in 2011 (Rodopi). She currently works on several projects focusing on the literary and filmic depiction of migration in the Francophone world.
