Michael Bishop

Michael Bishop is Emeritus Professor of French and Contemporary Studies at Dalhousie University and the University of King's College, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Widely published in the realms of modern and contemporary French literature and art, he is also a translator and poet. Recently published books include The Endless Theory of Days : The Art and Poetry of G?rard Titus-Carmel (2007), Contemporary French Art, vols 1 & 2 (2008 and 2011), La Gen?se maintenant, suivi de La Th?orie de l'amour (2011), translations of Yves Bonnefoy (The Radiant Space, 2009 and Disorder, 2012)and Jean-Paul Michel ( Placing Being before Itself, 2010). Born in London, he completed his B.A. Hons at the Victoria University of Manchester, his M.A. at the University of Manitoba and his Ph.D at the University of Kent at Canterbury. He is currently finishing books on contemporary French and Francophone poetry, on Andr? du Bouchet with Victor Martinez, as well as a translation of a selection of texts by Jean-Paul Michel. He resides in Halifax, Canada.
