Alan Perry

Alan R. Perry is Professor of Italian at Gettysburg College (Pennsylvania, USA). He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His special area of interests include the culture, history, and literature of the Italian Resistance in World War II, Italy in the Cold War, and the life and works of Giovannino Guareschi. In 2001, Longo Editore published his anthology Il santo partigiano martire: La retorica del sacrificio nelle biografie commemorative . In 2008, the University of Toronto Press published The Don Camillo Stories of Giovannino Guareschi: A Humorist Portrays the Sacred . He is currently engaged in research to write a critical biography on Guareschi.
