Eileen Angelini

Eileen M. Angelini, recipient of a Canada-U.S. Fulbright award as a Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in Globalization and Cultural Studies at McMaster University and named Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques in August 2011, received her B.A. in French from Middlebury College and her M.A. and Ph.D. in French Studies from Brown University. She is Professor of French at Canisius College and served as Chair of the Department of Modern Languages from 2006-2009 and again as interim chair in the 2012 Fall Semester. Prior to coming to Canisius College, Dr. Angelini was the Director of the Foreign Language Program and Associate Professor of Foreign Languages at Philadelphia University (1993-2006). With Myrna Bell Rochester, she co-edited the unabridged Focus Student Editions of Corneille’s Le Cid, Molière’s L’École des femmes , Maupassant’s Pierre et Jean and Voltaire’s Candide. In addition, Dr Angelini serves on the review board of the following journals: a/b: Auto/Biography Studies, ACTFL Foreign Language Annals, Journal of Language for International Business, Modern Language Journal, NECTFL Review, and Life Writing. Dr. Angelini was named to the 2013-2018 Fulbright Specialist Roster; is a recipient of a 2014-2015 Course Development Grant from the Ministère des Relations Internationales, Francophonie et Commerce Extérieur du Gouvernement du Québec; a 2010-2013 Québec Studies Program Grant, Professors and Researchers Component, awarded by the Gouvernement du Québec; a 2009-2010 Faculty Enrichment Program Grant awarded by the Government of Canada; a 2008 Québec Studies Program Grant for Program Enhancement awarded by the Gouvernement du Québec; a 2008 International Council for Canadian Studies Library Support Program Grant; the 2008 New York State Association of Foreign Language Teachers (NYSAFLT) Gertrude Rossin Cultural Grant; a 2008 Western New York Foreign Language Educators’ Council (WNYFLEC) Teacher Incentive Grant; as well as the co-recipient with Jane C. Judge (Canisius College Class of 2007) of the 2008 NYSAFLT Anthony J. Papalia Award for an outstanding article in a state or national foreign language education publication. Her teaching has been recognized by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) and NYSAFLT with the following two awards: the 2008 AATF Dorothy Ludwig National Award for Outstanding Teacher of the Year at the University Level and the 2007 NYSAFLT Ruth E. Wasley Distinguished Teacher Award Post-Secondary.
