Richard C. Burke

Richard C. Burke has taught English at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia, since 1985. He has degrees in English from Fairfield University (A.B.), Pennsylvania State University (M.A.), and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Ph.D.).

His primary field is Victorian fiction, and he has published on Dickens and Trollope. But his interests range widely, and he has published or presented on Euripides, Shakespeare, Chekhov, Shaw, Kawabata, Oe, Wordsworth, Pound, and others, as well as a number of children's writers, including Joan Aiken and Philip Pullman. His two current areas of interest are death in children's fantasy series and exemplary and cautionary tales. In addition, he has written and presented on a variety of pedagogical and administrative matters.

He has also held various administrative positions, including, most recently, Director for Curriculum Development at Lynchburg College.
