Marianne Ailes

Marianne Ailes is a Senior Lecturer in French at the University of Bristol. Most of her research has been on chansons de geste and vernacular chronicle. Most recently she has been working on a Research Council funded project on Charlemagne material in England with Phillipa Hardman of the Dept of English in Reading. Her published works include a monograph on the Chanson de Roland and an edition and translation of Ambroise’s Estoire de la Guerre sainte, with Crusades historian Malcolm Barber.
