Verna Ann Foster

Verna A. Foster (Ph.D, University of London, 1977) is Professor of English Emerita at Loyola University Chicago, where she taught courses in modern drama, Shakespeare, dramatic theory, and women in drama. She is the author of The Name and Nature of Tragicomedy (Ashgate, 2004), the editor of Dramatic Revisions of Myths, Fairy Tales and Legends: Essays on Recent Plays (McFarland, 2012), and has published numerous essays on Renaissance and modern European and American dramatists (including John Ford, Shakespeare, Ibsen, Chekhov, Beckett, Tennessee Williams, David Mamet, Timberlake Wertenbaker, Beth Henley, Suzan-Lori Parks, and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins). Professor Foster is currently working on contemporary Medea plays. She is a member of the Board of the Comparative Drama Conference.
