Scott Carpenter

Scott Carpenter is Professor of French at Carleton College (Minnesota, USA), where he teaches courses on the nineteenth- and twentieth-century French literature and literary theory. His scholarly works include Acts of Fiction (on political representations in nineteenth-century literature), Reading Lessons (an introduction to literary theory), Vagabondages littéraires (co-edited), an intermediate French reader, and Aesthetics of Fraudulence in Nineteeth-Century France: Frauds, Hoaxes, and Counterfeits.

Carpenter is also a novelist. His works include Theory of Remainders: A Novel and This Jealous Earth: Stories.
