David Coughlan

Dr David Coughlan gained his BA and MPhil from University College Cork, Ireland, and his PhD from Goldsmiths College, University of London. He currently lectures in English in the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Limerick, having previously been an IRCHSS (Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences) Post-Doctoral Fellow in the School of English, UCC, and a lecturer in English at Chuo University, Tokyo.

His research interests include twentieth and twenty-first-century literature, particularly American fiction; popular culture and graphic narrative; and literary and cultural theory. He has published in the journals Derrida Today, College Literature, Critique: Studies in Contemporary Fiction, and Modern Fiction Studies, in a number of edited collections, and in the Blackwell Encyclopedia of Twentieth-Century Fiction as well as The Literary Encyclopedia.
