Margaret Freeman

I am currently a co-director of Myrifield Institute for Cognition and the Arts (http://www.myrifield.org/myrifield.org.html), having retired from Los Angeles Valley College in 2002. Myrifield Institute promotes collaboration among researchers engaged in exploring the role of the arts in the development of human cognition. We invite inquiries from small groups of scholars and artists pursuing research in human cognition and the fine and performing arts who seek a secluded setting for discussion of issues, problems, and future directions. We maintain a small research library of materials in cognitive sciences and the arts available to visiting scholars. I am also co-editor of the Oxford University Press series in Cognition and Poetics and have given invited lectures throughout the world. My current research interests include cognitive poetics, aesthetics, linguistics, and literature. My scholarly publications may be found at http://margarethfreeman.wordpress.com/publications/.
