Susan Oliver

Susan Oliver is lecturer in Literature at the University of Essex. In recent years she has held fellowships at the Universities of Edinburgh and Essex, at the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia, and with the MLA (Bibliography Fellow). She is a Senior Member of Wolfson College, Cambridge. Susan's research interests are in Romanticism and in late-eighteenth-century literature, Transatlantic Studies, and Periodicals and Print Culture. In 2007, the British Academy awarded her the Rose Mary Crawshay Prize for her book Scott, Byron and the Poetics of Cultural Encounter (Palgrave Macmillan, 2005). She has also published several articles and book chapters on Romantic period literature and is currently working on a monograph study of Transatlantic periodical culture. Susan is an MLA Bibliographer and an Executive Member of the British Association for Romantic Studies (BARS).
