Steven Axelrod

I'm a Professor of English at the University of California, Riverside and the President of the Robert Lowell Society. Among my publications are Robert Lowell: Life and Art (Princeton Univ. Press 1978), Sylvia Plath: The Wound and the Cure of Words (Johns Hopkins Univ. Press 1990), and The New Anthology of American Poetry, Volumes 1, 2, and 3 (Rutgers Univ. Press 2003, 2005, 2012). I teach the whole range of U. S. poetry and have published articles on poets ranging from Emily Dickinson through William Carlos Williams, Charles Reznikoff, Elizabeth Bishop, Robert Lowell, Gwendolyn Brooks, and Sylvia Plath to Frank Bidart and Amy Gerstler.
