Anne Hébert (1916-2000) wrote for more than half a century and most of her work is now known and praised worldwide. Her critical success is reflected in the attention paid to her in Histoire de la littérature québécoise (2007), a major Québec anthology: a full entry in the section entitled “The invention of Québec’s literature” – no less than nine pages on her life and literary production – and around thirty references to her in the book altogether.
