Zeeba Sadiq (1962-2010) was a British-Pakistani writer known for her debut novel 38 Bahadurabad (1996). Inextricably linked to the author’s memories of a home in Karachi’s neighborhood of Bahadurabad, the novel combines elements of fiction and autobiography to create a nuanced portrait of her childhood and the city’s past.
Born in Karachi on July 18, 1962, Sadiq attended St Lawrence’s Girls School and the PECHS Government College for Women. She migrated to Britain in 1980 where she dabbled in different careers. During the 1980s, she worked as a hairdresser in London and a freelance interpreter for Urdu, Hindi, Farsi and Gujarati at the Home Office.
