Charlotte Elisabeth Grace Roche (born 18 March, 1978, in High Wycombe, England) was already a public figure before rising to stardom as a writer. The English-born, fully bilingual (English and German) Roche had been a successful video jockey for the Cologne-based music television station VIVA Zwei with her own format called Fast Forward.
The first episodes of Fast Forward were aired as early as 1998, a decade before she broke onto the German-language Popliteratur scene with her bestselling book Feuchtgebiete (Wetlands).
