The New Zealand author Lloyd Jones (born 1955) is not to be confused with a Welsh poet, novelist and photographer also named Lloyd Jones (born 1951), nor with the clergyman-author Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

Lloyd David Jones has received ample recognition as one of New Zealand’s senior living novelists. His accolades have included, among others, the following: in 1989, the Meridian Energy Katherine Mansfield Memorial Menton Fellowship; in 2003, the Montana Book Awards Deutz Medal for Fiction, and the Tasmania Pacific Fiction Prize, for The Book of Fame; in 2004, the New Zealand Post Book Honour Award for Napoleon and the Chicken Farmer; in 2005 the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize (Commended Title) for
