Charles Michael “Chuck” Palahniuk (pronounced “paul-ah-nik”) is one of the United States’ most successful contemporary novelists, whose books have made the New York Times Bestseller List on numerous occasions. He was born in Pasco, Washington on 21 February 1962. The second of the four children of Fred, a railroad brakeman, and Carol, an office manager at a nuclear power plant, Palahniuk is of French, Russian, and Ukrainian ancestry. He grew up with his parents and siblings in a mobile home in nearby Burbank, until his parents separated when he was fourteen.
