The final book of seven in the Harry Potter series, this volume brings the whole series to a firm conclusion, with remarkably few loose ends. Publication was 21^st July 2007, simultaneous in UK, USA and Canada. The publication is in the Guinness Book of Records for the highest ever one day sales, a total of 11m in UK and USA alone. This is in effect the high-water mark of the Harry Potter phenomenon. The book was generally well received by critics. Rowling had planned all seven novels in the series before writing the first, and this unusual whole-series plotting lends itself to a convincing last volume.
