Henri Michaux (1899-1984) was a Belgian writer and painter. His literary production spans a period of 60 years in which he explored a great variety of literary genres, forms and styles. Michaux wrote poems, short stories, travelogues, descriptions of imaginary places, philosophical disquisitions, essays of art criticism and other prose. Among his masterpieces are works such as Un certain Plume [A Certain Plume, 1930], Un Barbare en Asie [A Barbarian in Asia, 1933], La Nuit remue [The Night Moves, 1935], L’Infini turbulent [Infinite Turbulence, 1957].
