Michael Andreas Helmuth Ende (12 November 1929 - 28 August 1995) was a novelist, playwright, poet, and essayist who is best known for his work as a fantasy writer and as an author of children’s literature. Amongst his most popular novels are Die Unendliche Geschichte [The Neverending Story, 1983], Momo [Momo, 1984], and Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer [Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver, 1963].
