Wayne Johnston was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, in 1958 and was raised in Goulds, on the Avalon Peninsula, from the age of one. He received his B.A. from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1978, and his M.A. from the University of New Brunswick in 1984. Between 1978 and 1981, he worked as a reporter for the Daily Times in St. John's. He now resides in Toronto and is the author of six novels. He is the recipient of numerous literary awards, among which the Books in Canada First Novel Award for The Story of Bobby O'Malley and the Thomas Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award for The Divine Ryans and The Colony of Unrequited Dreams.
